Karachi-based Kompass Packaging has signed a contract with Kodak to bring the first Flexcel NX digital flexographic system into Pakistan. The investment represents a key part of Kompass Packaging’s strategy to attempt to convert its customers from gravure to flexographic printing. Kompass Packaging chief executive Hasal Jalil said: “98% of Pakistani printing is still produced gravure. Flexo printing technology has so many more benefits – it is cheaper, more efficient and it can produce shorter runs cost-effectively. We are giving the market another option.”
The company has also bought Kodak’s Approval digital color management system and the Prinergy Powerpack workflow software to allow it to increase its digital capabilities.
The new machines are due to be installed at Kompass Packaging’s plant in Karachi in August.
